The knowledge that Victor Frankenstein was trying to obtain was how to make human life. Its forbidden because God is the only person that is allowed to create life. At first it looked like it was worth trying but after Frankenstein made another life form he started to regret his creation. Frankenstein wanted to know what it felt like to be a God but after some time he came to his senses and realized that God should only have the ability to create humans.
