Victor Frankenstein is searching for knowledge and information on how to recreate life. This is forbidden because during the time period that the book takes place the majority of the people believe that God created life. In the beginning Victor believes that his experiment was worth it, but as time goes on he realizes that he should not have the power to recreate life.
