My riddle

My body is as wide as it is deep

i am a being of joy

While also being a creature of fear

My skin is riddled with fangs when I am angry

Yet it is uniform when I am calm

Beneath my skin life flourishes

I am a vanguard to those who reside beneath my shield

All those who walk on rock Land of me

I have been a source of praise and thanks

For I bring forward life and abundance to those who dare to tame those beneath me

Those daring enough to enter my traverse have been regarded as heros and leaders
